Sundae 27/3/11 :: Cosmo Cater

In Brisbane, it is difficult to pass by a weekend without hearing something about our guest for this week. Since the beginning of dance music time, Cosmo has been at the forefront of our industry, supporting, developing and just generally lapping up the music culture in this fair city.

Cosmo is one of the steadiest hands in Brisbane. Famous DJ standing next to him, thousands upon thousands of people losing their minds in front of him, and yet he is the very model of cool, calm and collected. This prowess has been displayed fairly much everywhere there are turntables- Family, Barsoma, Empire, Birdees, and almost every festival someone has tried to sell you a ticket to- he’s played with a finesse that has made him the goto man for international warmup duties.

In February, Cosmo joined us for the first time at our Flood Relief gig, and the result was an ear catching deep dubby disco house set that set the tone for his full session this weekend. For more of a taste check out his teaser mix, but be sure not to miss him when he joins the party this Sundae. See you in the sunshine..

Sundae 20/3/11 :: DJ Teejay

Recently, we’ve seen a huge growth in interest in our party from the younger generation of DJs about Brisbane. We can share our experience and history with them, but we also get to look at the party situation with fresh eyes (ears).

Although not technically a newcomer, for Teejay boasts a storied resume citing many Brisbane clubs, notably Alhambra, GPO, Monastery and Family, his output of recent times suggests a maturity and sensibility has developed, whilst maintaining a youthful verve and enthusiasm for the party.

Teejay comes along at a time where genre bending and crossing things up are prize traits in a DJ, and it is his ability to crossover all flavours that is finding him fans that are ready to roll along with him as he takes the crowd from bounce to bang to boomp and back again.

Settling in for his first Sundae session, Teejay will no doubt enjoy the chilled garden vibes and warm sunshine. We will no doubt witness another funky throwdown from a keen and talented DJ. See you in the sunshine..

Sundae 13/3/11 :: Brett J

When we select our special guests to spin at Sundae, we look for genuine enthusiasm, musical pedigree and just good natured party people. It helps to have a solid knowledge of the history, but most of all, we like to see a big grin from ear to ear whenever a fat tune comes on the speakers.

Our guest this week ticks all the boxes and then some. Brett J joins us at the tables this week for his first Sundae session, but it would seem like he’s been preparing for it all his life. Brett is a classic Brisbane house head: well versed in the different flavours, a solid resume in the downtown area, at all the hot places like GPO and Barsoma in Brisbane, and Moulin Rouge, Home and Candy’s Apartment in Sydney. But best of all, he is just a fun DJ to get down to.

With so much experience at the peak time, and so much dance music history behind him, it is easy to see why his performances are, well, easy. It’s so simple- step in the club, take a breath, catch your friends, and dive right in. See? Easy.

Sundae is all about the easygoing vibe too, so of course we’re going to get along and get down. Join us as we welcome Brett J to the outdoor party that gets down the best. See you in the sunshine.
