Sundae 1/1/12 :: New Year’s Dae!

Well, what a year we’ve had down here at Sundae! From the flooding rains early in the year to the beautiful spring and mild summer we are experiencing now, each afternoon by the river has been unique, coloured by Brisbane’s spectacular climate set upon a backdrop of the magnificent surrounds of New Farm Park.

Each week we meet new friends and happy regular faces to get down to chilled out vibes from all around the world. Now in our tenth year, we still love showing up each week to see all you cool party people hanging out and soaking up our special Sundae sound. This Sundae, we will be spending Christmas Dae with our families, however, we have to get some special plans for you next week, just when you need a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the silly season.

Sundae will be throwing down a huge double header next week that will see you fashionable cats celebrating the turn of the year with us in the midst of the colour and movement of our dancers, percussionists and performers at our Arabian Nights party on New Year’s Eve. Then on New Year’s Dae, a laidback barbecue and smouldering funky deep house tunes as we present a special afternoon session of Therapy with Adrian Matyear and Mr Sparkle.

Enjoy your holiday season with your close people as we take a break this week, and no doubt, next week, we will see you by the riverside.

Happy Christmas

Sundae 18/12/11 :: Sundae Xmas Party

Ok, so we were a little optimistic with our weather report last week, however that didn’t stop a bunch of you coming down to sing (and dance) in the rain. The brief storm provided great relief from the heat that built up over the day and left us with a surreal light show afterwards as the sun set.

As we near the end of another year down at Sundae, we like to look back and review all the great DJs that have led the party, and all the great tunes that make our ears happy. All of our DJs bring a unique sound, though it is the collective appreciation of house music that makes this such a fun party for us to run.

This week we are joined by a number of our previous Sundae guests as we take a look back at all the great releases this year, from across the whole spectrum of our sound, from funk, soul, boogie and jazz to disco both old and new and classic deep house. Next week is Christmas Dae and that means family time for us so this is your last chance to get a Sundae fix for the year. For the extra keen we will have special Sundae gifts to help you stay sane through the silly season.

Don’t forget too that we will be operating full swing on New Year’s Dae for a very special Therapy session presented by Sundae. As you would expect we will be taking advantage of the great climate we have in Brisbane to enjoy New Year’s Dae to the fullest.

Here at Sundae HQ we thank you for supporting us this year, and of course for helping us make it to ten years of great parties down here at Watt. As always we hope to see you by the riverside.

Sundae 11/12/11 :: Steve Watson [Melbourne]

We’re pretty lucky down here at Sundae to enjoy the company of the beautiful, warm sun each week at our party. These clouds that have been hanging around, while a nice change, will not deter us and our faithful from throwing Brisbane’s best day party. We’ve got you covered, rain, hail or shine, with cool drinks, warm people, and the hot, hot sound of Sundae in full effect.

Our guest this week is no stranger to fickle weather, relocating himself from Machester in the UK to Melbourne in 2004, and quickly making a name for himself as a fine example of deep, soulful house selector. That name is Steve Watson, and he returns to Sundae this week, armed with all the good stuff we like, and presented by a consumate professional. Crossing soul, disco, funk, and deep, jacking and soulful house, Steve has refined a sound that is both forward thinking and accessible.

Down in Melbourne, Steve has surrounded himself with likeminded DJs and musicians in his Soiree project, a deep and organic sounding organization that has given him the freedom to throw parties with a real sound, with great people that is very similar to what we like to do here.

Join us this week as Steve Watson arrives for his return visit to Sundae, having effected a great afternoon last time he was here, we know you’ll enjoy his smooth sounds and effortless delivery. We’ll see you in the sunshine.
