Sundae 23/12/12 :: Xpat Xmas Party

So it comes to the end of the year, and 2012 for us was a banger. Brisbane locals consistently show us the quality that comes out of our little town, and we’ve shared some fun too with many fantastic guests from around the country and around the world. At this time of year we are thankful too for all of our wonderful friends who come out to play with us each Sundae, all of you are a big part of why we throw this little shindig each week.

This Christmas as many of us head home to celebrate with those close to them, some of you may find yourselves away from home for work or other reasons. Even if you aren’t alone at this time of year, remember that Sundae is your family too and we’ll be throwing on tunes and good cheer as we have all year. This week’s guest DJs are expats too: Phil Perry and Brian Damms hail from the UK, but now call Australia home, and will be joining us this week with bags of soulful, jazzy and disco flavoured deep house, alongside our happy hosts Cool Hand Luke and Chantal supplying the support with deep and funky selections. In addition, the decks will be available for drop in spinners if the mood takes them.

As you know we are in our prime time now. The Summer in Brisbane is perfect for kicking back on a weekend in the sun, by the river, with some cool cocktails and hot tunes provided by the Sundae team. Bring your family or join ours. We’re all for happy new friends at the party so come along and find us, we’ll see you in the sunshine.

Sundae 29/5/11 :: Brian Damms

Originally a British expat, though now a long time resident of Brisbane, Brian Damms has made this city his own, drawing on his experiences in the heady summers of love of his youth, and expertly delivers a proper chuggy soulful house vibe refined via thousands of hours behind the turntables.

In Brisbane, Brian is a well known face at all the hot clubs. He laid the groundwork for much of the dominant sound in our city, helping to define an era with quality showings at places like Press Club, Empire, Family, and Therapy. Brian is a friendly face in the crowd too, constantly taking in and enjoying new music, and of course, you’ve probably seen him hanging out with us at Sundae many times.

Often Brian helps us out with our big projects, and we’re always pleased to see him roll up with a record bag at our various collaboration parties, though we would be remiss if we didn’t book in a date for our spotlight to fall on one of the city’s classiest and most humble nightclub spinners. This week we put the focus on Brian and give you all afternoon to soak up his sweet sounds. See you by the riverside.

Sundae 1/8/10 :: Residents Day

Residents day is way to bring together those dj’s who’s involvement with Sundae goes deeper than the occasional gig. They are the dj’s we turn to when we need someone we can trust to run the show , those who we turn to for inspiration, those who have been there with support from the very beginning, and of course the dj’s who deliver the perfect Sundae sound time and time again. This week Benn Hopkins and Brian Damms will join myself (CoolhandLuke) and Chantal for an afternoon of music and mayhem. . See you in the Sunshine!

On a different note our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in Philadelphia as they deal with the loss of a close friend and Philadelphian DJ legend Randy Flash, if you are in Philadelphia and can make it please do as all the money raised through the benefit will be given directly to the mother of Randy Flash Lee Jones and others close to Randy have brought this together out of the goodness of there hearts as a celebration of a life that has cast out positive energy to all those who had the pleasure to be in his company. God bless Randy Flash as well as his family and friends.
