Sundae 8/6/14 :: Danny Cool

Our Vinyl Throwdown parties have become an institution here at Sundae, giving some of Brisbane’s favourite DJs a chance to dig through their collections, and a chance for our party people to check out some of the best recorded music around. This week we continue the theme with one of the funky finest record collections in Brisbane, along with the studious DJ in control of this unreal library, Danny Cool.

Danny has been for a long time a regarded record spinner, often pulling out classic tunes and sleeper hits that drag people from the dancefloor to the booth to snipe the track title and try to make it back to the floor before the break ends. Found about town at venues like X + Y, Laruche, Rumpus, Birdees and more, Danny has a built a strong following, both young and old, drawn to his party approach, and although recently making the digital conversion, vinyl records are still a big part of his performances.

Down here at Sundae we’re setting out the turntables for Danny’s imminent arrival, and we can expect an afternoon of hip hop, funk, soul, boogie and a dash of house and disco to be pumping out of the speakers. Perfect. Great afternoon tunes delivered straight from the needle in the groove to you, so join us in by the river soaking up some of that Danny Cool party vibe. We’ll see you in the sunshine.

Sundae 9/10/11 :: Danny Cool

After a spectacular show of colour, rhythm and movement at our Carnivale party last week we are straight back into the swing of things in October with more fabulous Brisbane DJs. This week we kick off the month with a Sundae friend on a return visit with more sweet soulful tunes to drop on us. Let’s meet Bure.

An understated, though generous and efficient DJ, Bure joins us at the decks this week to shine a light on the deeper aspects of his sound. More notorious for his bigroom work, Bure’s collection spans all shades of house, and has seen him able to take on any room. Sunbar, Press Club, Jade Buddha, Alhambra and more recently the Limes rooftop and Waterloo hotel have all seen the more soulful end of his sound, whilst Uber, Family, GPO and the Met have enjoyed the peak time sound he is readily able to deliver. In between dates, Bure continues to punch out remixes under his Musik1 alias, notably hitting #5 on the Aria singles chart for his redo of Ricky-Lee’s ‘Hell No.’

This week though, Bure is eager to explore the deeper sound with us, and arrives at the party with bags of experience, and an enthusiasm for the movement. Join us as we step lightly to the sweet beat of Bure steppin’ out. See you by the riverside.

Sundae 18/7/10 :: Danny Cool

Originally from Melbourne Danny is now well established in the Brisbane music scene and in his time here has proven he has the versatility and crowd pleasing ability it takes to keep him busy behind the turntables of numerous clubs and events around town. With an eclectic bag of tricks including 70s funk and soul, golden era hip-hop, reggae, disco grinding jiggy and everything in between and for Sundae all played on vinyl which has brought him respect from DJ’s and regulars alike Many of you may have noticed that record players are still the focus of the DJ booth at Sundae so we are proud to welcome another self confessed vinyl addict to the comfort of the 1200’s. See you in the sunshine!
