They’ve had the opportunity to play some of Australia’s best festivals (Parklife, Good Vibrations, BBQ Breaks & BlahBlahBlah, & Stereosonic) alongside some of their favourite artists and have proven themselves to be some of Brisbanes hardest working Dj’s, successfully holding down solid sets in basically every one of Brisbane’s best nightclubs.

Cool Hand Luke ::

Cool Hand Luke has been a central fixture of Brisbane’s nightlife, and some daytime activities too, for nearly a decade and a half now. In that time he has racked up an incredible list of residencies including Family, Zuri, Cloudland, Alhambra, Alloneword, Therapy, and many, many more. His enthusiastic approach to the party, smooth, effortless mixing and solid selection have endeared him to thousands of fans in this little city, and more than a few around the world. Called upon to support a list of visiting international artists far too numerous to list here, though many of you will remember warm ups for Terrence Parker, Jimpster, DJ Spinna and Nile Rogers in recent times.

Chantal ::

Chantal first came to attention thumping funky house out of the park at Therapy and just kept on keeping on from there, taking on Limes, Zuri, Press Club and all sorts of other parties too. Originally a dancer, Chantal brought a unique perspective to dance music, and brought a technical prowess to support her groovy tunes. Brisbane clubbers quickly came about, and Chantal too has amassed a significant number of people that have wobbled to her music.

Sundae 7/9/14 :: Benn Hopkins + Sharif D

Sundae is a collaborative effort made by a few dedicated DJs in Brisbane and one of the less public faces of our team is hitting the turntables this week to remind us how all this Sundae business got started.

The man behind the international mechanics of our events, Benn is a qualified party starter and reliable hand across the nocturnal hours in the city’s clubs. Introducing international tourists each week at his Zuri parties didn’t hurt his resume, and often sees him sorting out the logistics of getting the evening started at Barsoma, Laruche, Bacchus and so on too. Benn is at least partially responsible shaping the sound down here, from slow and groovy r’n’b jams to deep instrumental hip hop, upbeat funky breaks and soulful deep house beats.

In addition to all this busyness behind the decks, Benn has been responsible for maintaining the connection to the motherland, and has appeared at the original Sundae party in Philadelphia, one of only a handful of Aussie DJs to do so. This international connection has also seen Benn responsible for bringing out some of our great overseas guests.

Sharif D is no stranger to our party either; he was seen lurking around our 10th birthday party amongst others. It’s no surprise though, Sharif is known locally for unleashing his saxophone at clubs like Zuri, Alhambra, The Met and more, adding the spice to any party he shows up to. His musical talents extend to the keys as well, and sharing production duties with De La Roche in Dirty Polite, together they are recreating disco and house on their terms, from vintage golden sounds to new school future producers, and a shared love of boogie, funk, and soulful, diva house music.

Benn Hopkins is an experienced operator and eager to take the Sundae party for another spin. We can expect deep goodness from Benn on the funky disco tip alongside the smooth flow from Sharif D. Together, these two cats will open up the program at our new venue Reef Seafood and Sushi in the new Gasworks complex in Newstead. Join us this week! We’ll see you in the sunshine.

Sundae 13/11/11 :: Troy De La Roche + Sharif D

As many at the party last week would have realised, the days are getting long now, with the warm sunshine extending well into the evening and creating a sublime backdrop for all the great music that has been going down at Sundae. This week we’re straight back into the fray with a double header of two Brisbane house cats that many will recognise, DJ De La Roche and Sharif D.

Troy De La Roche is a big fan of the outdoor party; he’s been chasing them around the globe, seeking out the perfect sunset at the end of the perfect afternoon, set to the perfect soundtrack. Playing in Panama, Malaysia, Holland, and the US, at events for Red Bull and the Playboy Bunny Tour amongst others, De La Roche has had ample opportunity to refine his funky, deep, disco house selections and now, back home in Brisbane, can let loose a little of that funky business at Sundae. A return visit, he first joined us at the party in August last year, though this will be his first outing as part of his new collaboration with Sharif D, Dirty Polite.

Sharif D is no stranger to our party either; he was seen lurking around our 10th birthday party back in June.

All good things that we like at Sundae, so get yourself together with your friends and we’ll hand over the controls to DJ De La Roche and Sharif D to navigate another great afternoon in the sun at Watt. We’ll see you by the riverside.
